15th Hydrocarbon Exploration-Production Sector Consultation Meeting
15th Hydrocarbon Exploration & Production Consultation Meeting was held on December 05, 2023 with the participation of sector stakeholders, especially General Manager of Mining and Petroleum Affairs Mr. Arslan Narin. At the meeting, the companies operating in the Exploration - Production Sector have found the opportunity to consult with notably Mr. Arslan Narin and the relevant Decision Makers about the problems they have encountered and discussed the solution proposals. General Manager of Mining and Petroleum Affairs Mr. Arslan Narin stated that in 2023, exploration and production activities were carried out with 43 companies, 33 of which were domestic and 10 of which were foreign capital, the number of wells drilled increased every year, the number of working rigs was 66 in the current week, and with this figure, Turkiye has become the country with the most intense exploration activities in Europe. Arslan Narin pointed out that the crude oil production in the country, which was 87 million barrels in the 2013-2017 period, increased to 111.7 million barrels in the 2018-2022 period, and stated that as of October, monthly oil production reached 23.4 million barrels and natural gas production reached 589 million cubic meters. PETFORM Chairperson Mrs. Ayşe Cesur Öksüz remarked that our sector has gone through an extraordinary period in terms of field activity in the historical flow and that this intensity of activity seems to continue in the public and private sectors for the next year. Mrs. Öksüz stated that putting the Sakarya Gas Field into production, as well as the discoveries in Gabar and the rapid transformation of these discoveries into production, is a source of pride for everyone. Mrs. Öksüz also stated that PETFORM continues its work to develop the natural gas market and the studies are continuing of become a natural gas trade center.
