Anadolu Agency PETFORM Economic Enterprise Training

The Natural Gas Trade Training Center, established within the framework of the TRGas-Hub project funded by the EU and prepared by PETFORM for the purpose of contributing to the vision of becoming a "Natural Gas Trade Hub", successfully implemented since December of 2013, organized a training on the Anadolu Agency's energy correspondents in order to contribute to creating an unbiased point of view on the energy market by increasing the knowledge about the energy market.

During the course of the training, sessions regarding the general view of the world natural gas market, the liberalization process and current situation of Turkey's natural gas market, supply security in Turkey, the competencies necessary to become a hub, the current situation of Turkey and European HUB examples were held by professional sector representatives.

The first session focused on the general aspects of the Turkish and world natural gas markets and focused on the steps taken by Turkey to compete with European markets. In the second session, LNG terminals and world trends for storage and the current situation of the Turkish market were mentioned about. It is emphasized that the storage facilities will be a very important place in the natural gas market of our country.

In the third session, natural gas exchanges, over-the-counter markets were explained while price formation in Europe and comparison with Turkey were made. It was mentioned that they could be done in order to increase over-the-counter trade in Turkey. The last session focused heavily on the process of hubs. The short, medium and long term benefits of hub creation in our country market were discussed by explaining the process of being a hub with examples given from European hubs.
